Toby’s 18 months old now and is doing pretty well at feeding himself, but food often ends up being scooped off of his plate rather than into his mouth so when TUMTUM offered me the chance to review some of their easy scoop range, I was keen to give them a try.
TUMTUM have some wonderful products for all ages and feeding needs, from dining sets to lunch boxes, flasks to baking sets and all of them are so vibrant and colourful, which will really appeal to children.
The TUMTUMS children’s dining sets are available in three bright and fun ranges and I went for the Scruff collection because Toby loves dogs. We were sent an Easy Scoop Dining Set (£14.00), consisting of a bowl and plate with a handy edge and scooping corner, an Easy Scoop Cutlery Set (£10.00), a Super Stable Cup (£6.50) and a Mega Size Mat (£5.00).
The edge and corner on the plate make it much easier for little ones to load their fork and spoon with food instead of inadvertently pushing it off on to the table or floor. The cutlery is a nice size for little hands and Toby has done really well with getting food on to his fork and spoon then into his mouth, as you can see below!
I like having the giant mat beneath Toby’s plate to protect the table because it’s a play table too and I don’t want it being stained. The cup is fantastic, Toby loves having his drinks through a straw but the only drawbacks for me are that the lid is quite hard to take off to wash and it’s also perfect for Toby to shake about and spill his drink everywhere! The second part to that obviously isn’t a design issue but I do find the lid tricky, especially if I forget to take it off before I start the dishes and therefore have wet, soapy hands.
Overall I think this is a lovely collection and whilst there are cheaper options available, the touches such as the gorgeous colour and design, the clever scooping corner and perfect sizing for toddlers make this a really good option. TUMTUM have kindly offered to give one lucky Budding Smiles reader the above products for themselves, all you have to do is complete as many options as you want to on the Rafflecopter below and a winner will be picked at random – Good luck!

Do not feed anything sweet until baby has become accustomed to eating savoury. Once baby’s palate is used to sweet food, it can be difficult introducing savoury food afterwards.

Be prepared to be patient and that your child might refuse eating what you want them to eat but stay calm und don’t panic starting to feed them sweets and junk as they might prefer eating it. They will get to accept a healthy diet sooner or later.

Finger food are fantastic for toddlers. Always give them lots of different types of food so that their interest is kept.
ellie spider 21st January 2016 at 10:18 pm
Get them involved in the process. When your at the supermarket let them help you pick a few items, then when you prep the meal let them help – even if its just a quick stir of whatever your making. Encourage them to smell and taste a bit of new foods but never force them. Eat together as a family – if they see everyone else eating and enjoying they will too! And embrace mess! learning to use cutlery and to eat new foods is hard work. Encourage them to try a spoon but dont be too alarmed if they drop/spill the food they will get it eventually
