Today Toby turned 21 months old and I am now 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant with baby girl, so with 11 short days until my due date and our gorgeous boy reaching a new month for the last time as our only child, I thought a joint update was in order! Being 38 weeks pregnant alongside having a 21 month old toddler isn’t always the easiest, but I wouldn’t have it any other way and I love them both so much.
Yesterday marked me turning 33 weeks pregnant with Baby Girl and as we also entered March, my brain whirred at the double whammy of being in single figure weeks even if I go a fortnight over, and of the high chance that Baby Girl will arrive next month. Scary and awesome in equal measures! I’ve been apologetically slack with my Blog Bump Club lately, missing February altogether, so I’m starting again today and discussing those final plans and details that are done in the last month or so as you get ready for a baby’s arrival.
Wow, 32 weeks pregnant. That seems huge. I feel huge. It’s all so very, very real and close now! With a mere 8 (to 10) weeks until we meet our daughter, Phil and I have started planning and preparing as much as we can. Oh, and we’re buying a new house so we’re taking guesses as to which happens first – the house move of the baby!
As I roll rather unceremoniously into my third trimester, my thoughts are turning to my maternity care options and what sort of choices are available. I live in a rural village so my choices for antenatal care are rather limited to the small local midwifery team, or indeed private maternity care and having carried one baby absolutely fine through the local midwives, I continued to see them this time around too.
Today was my moment of not coping when pregnancy and parenting gets tough and I ended up bursting into tears in the middle of Morrison’s. Not my finest moment. The thing is, I couldn’t be more grateful that I have the blessings of Toby and his unborn sister, I genuinely don’t know how I managed to get so lucky in life. That doesn’t stop it being hard though, and with Toby going through a very clingy phase that involves him screaming blue murder if he not physically attached to me for the majority of his waking hours – not to mention those waking hours coming within what should be sleeping hours – alongside increasingly painful back, hip and pelvic problems, today was my brick wall today.
