My name is Hannah and I love food. A lot.
I’m also a vegetarian; 13 months in and discovering that there is LOADS of amazing choice out there, especially for the festive season! I’ve brought together some of my favourite brands and products, as well as mouth watering festive recipes from some incredible food bloggers. In case that’s not enough, you can also enter to win a festive veggie hamper!
Vegetarian Christmas meals
When I first ‘went veggie’, I was a uncertain as to how I’d enjoy a roast dinner ever again. Sure, I love crispy potatoes, honey glazed carrots, and a fluffy Yorkie pud – but without the meat, was it even a roast?
Here are some amazing alternatives to go with your trimmings this Christmas:
Mushroom Wellington
This is one of my favourite vegetarian meals when I’m out, but I’m yet to have found a good pre-made one. Instead, I’m going to make a mouth watering vegan mushroom wellington, which is over on Chammy’s blog. Tell me this doesn’t look absolutely divine?!
Chicken-less Pot Pies
Queen of foodie delights – Emily from A Mummy Too – made these vegetarian chicken-less pot pies, which I think look delicious and would taste great teamed with new potatoes and veg – nom! I’m a sucker for a good pie, isn’t it just one of the ultimate comfort food options?!
Treats and Nibbles
Obviously, Christmas means treats! Whether it’s gorging on chocolate, or snacking on nibbles between huge meals, I’m sure most of us will be over-indulging to some extent this Christmas!
Chocolates for Chocoholics*
Chocolate orange brussels sprouts, prosecco truffles, chocolate tarts – all AMAZING, and all vegetarian! I did have to test these to make sure that they were good enough to recommend…
Indigo Herbs Chocolate Making Gift Set*
This is such a lovely set, and the vegan raw chocolate with goji berries and Brazil nuts that you make are divine. This would make a great Secret Santa gift, or great to make yourself as table favours for the big day – if they last that long!
Opies Foods
I had the immense pleasure of trying cheese on biscuits, topped with pickled walnuts, at BlogOn Xmas in September. Honestly, I’m not making this up, pickled walnuts are so tasty it’s barely even fair on the cheese. They’re also great in stews and one-pot meals.
Opies Foods also produce cocktail fruits, compotes, pickles, olives – all perfect for nibbles or in festive drinks and recipes.
Vegetarian Christmas Drinks
Hofmeister Helles Lager*
This Bavarian beer was recently relaunched by an independent group of beer lovers, and is already winning awards. Phil and I have enjoyed a bottle or two, and love the clean, rich taste of this golden blonde beer, which is available to buy on Amazon, while you can find out more about the company’s fascinating story on their Hofmeister website!
Vegan Festive Coffee
Sweet Freedom has been one of my favourite brands since before I even became vegetarian, with their Choc Shot providing a delicious way to make vegan mocha using my espresso machine and milk frother, with Oatly milk.
A few weeks ago, I discovered Spiced Orange Choc Shot, so adding that to my mocha makes a lovely, tangy, festive drink which is perfect for this time of year!
