Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Awards

Whilst on holiday I spotted Tweets from the wonderful Rebecca of mousedogbaby and Andrea of Blogger Mumma, telling me they had nominated me to answer some questions about myself as part of the Sisterhood of World Bloggers Awards. A while back I was nominated for the Liebster Awards, which seems to be a similar thing, but as each blogger sets their own questions for their nominees I thought there’s no harm in answering some different ones this time around! Thank you Rebecca and Andrea, here are my answers: Rebecca’s Questions: 1. Why did you start blogging? I’ve always enjoyed writing and I basically wanted to record the key parts of my pregnancy. I had no idea what it would lead to, I was amazed when people started reading it, still am! 2. Do you share your home with any pets? We have 2 cats, Dylan (after Bob Dylan) and Ivy (Not after anyone!) We have 3 chickens called Alina (My Mum), Susan (Phil’s Mum) and Beattie (Phil’s Aunty). Sadly we lost our fourth chicken a few months back. we also have several ducks who wander around and nest in our garden even though they’re wild. 3. If you could drop everything, and go and take some ‘me-time’ right now,…

Tiddley Pom Organic Baby Massage Experience Gift Set

Shortly before Toby was born, I was contacted by Tiddley Pom to see if I fancied reviewing their Organic Baby Massage Experience gift set once ‘Baby C’ was born. I’d heard great things about baby massage, so jumped at the chance. The lovely Emma, founder of Tiddley Pom, said to take my time and not rush into trying to get a review done until I was ready, then even sent me a congratulations card when Toby was born. Lovely touches like that really make you warm to a company! I received the set a few weeks before Toby arrived and then waited eagerly for him to reach a point where I thought he would enjoy a massage. The massage kit comes beautifully presented in packaging which can also then double up as a storage box. Inside, you find a 4-step set of products as follows. 1x Organic Baby Wash (50ml) 1x Organic Baby Massage Oil (50ml) 1x Organic Soothing Baby Lotion (50ml) 1x Organic Nappy Balm (30ml) There is also an instructional DVD and booklet to guide parents in how to use the products for a relaxing and successful massage experience. Each bottle clearly shows on the label what it is,…

I pretty much adore life, so the list of my favourite things could go on for quite some time. In order to not completely bore you with every last scrap of information about me, here are just a few of my favourites in life. Enjoy! First Christmas Together Us in Paris Married! Self Confidence in Pregnancy

I’ve been debating for a while over whether to write this post or not, I love being pregnant, I consider it a blessing and a hugely positive life event, so I want Budding Smiles to reflect that. My blog, however, is about my journey into motherhood and that journey cannot possibly be a smooth road for 9 months without any speed bumps or wrong turns. I’ve had a textbook pregnancy so far and at 34 weeks, I count my blessings that up to this point, my body has done a seemingly good job at keeping Baby C safe and cooking nicely. Obviously Baby’s health is the absolute top priority, but it isn’t the only thing that matters during pregnancy – my health, my happiness, my relationship with my husband, his happiness, all these things can be impacted upon in these 9 months and I truly believe it’s vital to keep an eye on them and ensure that they too thrive alongside Baby C. Finishing work a couple of weeks ago was a huge change for me and initially I struggled to adapt. For 11 years now I’ve either worked full time or travelled, with very little break in between the…

How to Eat Once Baby Arrives – Making Meals to Freeze

I find myself 33 weeks pregnant and on maternity leave, so with quite a bit of time on my hands to make preparations for Baby C’s arrival. With my hospital bags packed and the nursery a work in progress, I decided to make one or two simple meals a week which I can freeze, to be simply heated up and eaten once Baby is here and I have neither the time or the energy to make a half decent meal! After making a sausage plait for tea last week I had a block of leftover puff pastry in the fridge, so decided to make some really simple tartlets which will just need 20 minutes or so in the oven to cook once defrosted. Before I say anything else, I have two confessions: 1) I buy ready-made puff pastry. I’m so sorry to all those true cooks out there, but I find that the chilled packs from the supermarket taste great and save me a whole heap of hassle, mess and washing up! 2) I don’t own a rolling pin. This is something I keep meaning to rectify, but only remember that I mean to rectify it when I need one…
