Toby has been in sleeping bags since he was a couple of months old and we have some lovely ones that have been passed to us from friends that have kept us going but Toby is now growing out of many and we’re looking to buy the 12 month plus ones.
When My Baby’s Name Is got in touch to ask whether I would like to review one of their sleeping bags I didn’t hesitate to say yes, having heard about them before and read positive things. I was given the choice of size and colour so went for grey because it really suits Toby – not that fashion matters when he’s asleep, but you know!
I was really impressed with the communication from My Baby’s Name Is founder Szymon, who told me about how he used to be a fashion accessories designer for luxury brands, but then decided to go for his dream of running a business when his wife was pregnant with their daughter Matylda. Interested in the concept of safe sleeping bags for young children, Szymon got designing and his company (as well as his daughter!) was born in 2014.
What about the sleeping bag itself then? Well, it came in lovely reusable packaging, which is always a bonus for me because it makes you feel that you’re opening a really good product up. The colour is really nice, all the colour options look vibrant, and we opted for 6-18 months in 2.5 tog, which feels really lovely and quilted, almost like it is getting Toby ready for one day having a quilt instead.
Each sleeping bag has a label stitched into the neckline which says ‘My Baby’s Name Is’ with dotted lines below for you to write your baby’s name on. It’s a lovely touch for making it feel personal and I love anything personalised which I can use to help Toby recognise his own name as he gets older.
Toby is quite a diddy baby, so in actual fact the 6-18 months size will probably last him longer than that at this rate, the sizes are generous with the one we have going up to 86cm. Toby’s only 77cm at the moment so we’ve got plenty of room to fill.
I really like the feel and design of the My Baby’s Name Is sleeping bag. It feels so cosy and I may ask Szymon to design one for me for when I’m camping! The care label is tucked away so as not to irritate your baby, the zip feels nice and secure as do the poppers. I really feel that Toby is safe in it and the bags have passed EU and UK safety tests which is always good to know. The 2.5 tog does seem pretty thick, so Toby didn’t wear it on the recent warmer nights but it’s perfect on cooler nights and he seemed happy in it, not waking up sweating or too cold.
