If you are regularly bombarded by my incessant Instagramming (Insta Spamming?), then you know that I am addicted to taking snapshots of our daily lives. I don’t do perfectly curated photos because I’m not a perfectly curated human, but I love being able to capture a moment that will never ever happen again. Isn’t that one of the absolute joys of modern technology?
I have flitted between Android and IOS phones and between point and shoot and DSLR cameras, for years now and I feel pretty happy with my current iPhone 7+ and Canon G7X combo. I recently tried out the new Huawei P10 Plus phone from Three – isn’t it funny how these days a phone is reviewed based so much on its camera?! I took the P10 Plus to Center Parcs to see how I got on with it.
I wanted to capture a lot of the holiday from Toby and Martha’s perspective, but I wasn’t about to hand control of a brand new phone to our not quite 3-year-old! Instead I took loads of snaps at their level to see what life looks like as a toddler.
Of course once the mini people were in bed, we did indulge a little bit ourselves…!
I haven’t edited any of these photos, they’re straight from the phone. As you can see, they’re very vibrant and I would probably want to play around a bit more to tone them down slightly, although that’s just a personal taste thing. I do adore the depth of the colours though and think the sunset rum shot is nice and atmospheric. I’m not a good photographer and obviously there’s a lot more that I could have done to make them better, so think of this as a review for someone who just wants quick snapshots, not professional photos!
** I was sent a loan Huawei P10 Plus handset from Three UK in exchange for this post. All words and opinions are my own. **
